Getting Around AMS Airport
Amsterdam Airport Schiphol operates under a one-terminal concept, meaning all facilities are housed within a single, expansive terminal. This terminal is divided into three main sections known as Departure Halls 1, 2, and 3. Each hall has its own set of piers and concourses, allowing passengers to walk between different areas of the terminal. However, it's important to note that border control separates Schengen from non-Schengen areas, so passengers may need to pass through security checks when moving between these zones.
For ease of navigation, here is a brief overview of the terminal layout:
- Departure Hall 1: Includes Piers B and C, both of which are dedicated to Schengen flights.
- Departure Hall 2: Comprises Piers D and E. Pier D serves both Schengen and non-Schengen flights, while Pier E is exclusively for non-Schengen flights.
- Departure Hall 3: Contains Piers F, G, H, and M. Piers F and G are non-Schengen areas, whereas Pier H handles non-Schengen low-cost flights and Pier M is for Schengen low-cost flights.
Schiphol Plaza serves as the central hub of the terminal, connecting all three departure halls and housing a variety of shops, restaurants, and other amenities. This area is pre-security, making it accessible to both travelers and general visitors.
