Getting Around MEX Airport
MEX Airport consists of two main terminals, Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, which are approximately 3 kilometers apart. Terminal 1 is the larger and older of the two, featuring a long, two-story building. The ground floor handles all arrivals, including 22 baggage claim carousels and various domestic check-in areas. The upper floor is designated for international check-ins and departures, housing multiple security checkpoints and a long departures concourse. Terminal 2, inaugurated in 2007, serves primarily as a hub for Aeromexico and includes facilities such as check-in areas, security checkpoints, and a main concourse connected to three piers.
When navigating inside the terminals, here are some tips to keep in mind:
- Both terminals are equipped with clear signage directing you to various facilities like check-ins, gates, and baggage claims.
- Terminal 1’s international and domestic services are split between the eastern and western sections respectively, so pay attention to signage to head in the right direction.
- For moving between terminals, you can use the free inter-terminal shuttle bus service or the Aerotrén people mover if you have a boarding pass. The shuttle bus stops are located at entrance 6 of Terminal 1 and entrance 4 of Terminal 2.
