Getting Around CLT Airport

CLT features a single terminal structure that is straightforward to navigate, with all five concourses directly connected to the central area where you'll find ticketing, security, and baggage claim services. This setup means you can walk from one concourse to another without needing to re-enter security, making transfers between gates relatively seamless.

Here are some tips for getting around inside the airport:

  • Concourse A: This concourse has 32 gates and is split into a main pier and two extension piers. The main pier primarily serves American Airlines, while the extension piers host a variety of other airlines including United, Southwest, and Delta.
  • Concourse B and C: These concourses are exclusively used by American Airlines for mainline domestic flights, with 16 and 18 gates respectively.
  • Concourse D: Serving as the international hub within CLT, this concourse has 13 gates and handles all international flights that do not have customs preclearance, including services by Lufthansa and Volaris.
  • Concourse E: With 45 gates, Concourse E is predominantly used by American Eagle and recently, Contour Airlines for Essential Air Service flights.

Walking between concourses is generally efficient, but if you're short on time or need assistance, look for airport staff who are readily available to help guide you to your gate or provide information on the quickest routes within the terminal.
