Getting Around DUB Airport
Dublin Airport features two main terminals, Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, each designed to facilitate an efficient passage for travelers through their facilities. Terminal 1, operational since 1972, has undergone several expansions to accommodate an increasing number of passengers and flights. It primarily serves short-haul and European destinations with a notable extension, a pier opened in 2007, which mainly caters to Ryanair flights. This terminal also includes an area with new food and retail outlets added in 2009.
Terminal 2, opened in 2010, is tailored more towards long-haul flights, particularly those traveling between Europe and the United States. It features a US pre-clearance immigration facility, which allows passengers to undergo US immigration procedures before departure, streamlining their arrival in the US. Terminal 2 is the primary base for Aer Lingus and several other international carriers, including several US airlines. When navigating through either terminal, look out for clear signage directing you to various sections, including check-in areas, departure gates, and facilities like shops and restaurants.
Here are some tips to help you move smoothly inside the airport:- Follow the overhead signs for directions to your gate, amenities, and other services.- For inter-terminal transfers, walking is usually feasible, but it's wise to allocate extra time during busy periods or if you have mobility constraints.
