HNL Commuter Terminal Map & Guide
This page offers insights into the Commuter Terminal at Honolulu Airport, detailing its layout, amenities, and connectivity within the airport.
Commuter Terminal Info & Layout
The Commuter Terminal at Daniel K. Inouye International Airport in Honolulu is designed to handle domestic flights, primarily serving inter-island travel within Hawaii. This terminal is an important hub for local travelers and smaller commuter airlines. Although the original terminal was closed in 2018, the current facility is located between the Delta and United Cargo facilities on the Diamond Head side of the airport.
The Commuter Terminal does not have a large number of gates like the other terminals, as it primarily caters to smaller aircraft used for short-haul flights. Despite its smaller size, the terminal offers essential amenities to ensure a comfortable experience for travelers, including seating areas and basic service facilities.
Access to the Commuter Terminal is primarily via pedestrian walkways from the main areas of the airport. Although there is no automated transport system like a people mover, the terminal is conveniently located for easy access to and from the main airport infrastructure.
While the Commuter Terminal does not connect directly to other terminals via post-security walkways, passengers can easily transfer to Terminals 1 and 2 by exiting and re-entering through security. This makes it straightforward for travelers to navigate between different parts of the airport, especially for those making connections to larger domestic or international flights.
A unique feature of the Commuter Terminal is its focus on inter-island connectivity, which is crucial for residents and visitors traveling between the Hawaiian Islands. This terminal plays a vital role in maintaining the flow of passenger traffic across the state, making it a noteworthy part of Honolulu's airport infrastructure.
