Terminal 1 Info & Layout
Terminal 1 at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) primarily handles domestic flights. Southwest Airlines is the major operator here, with a point-to-point route structure. Other airlines with check-in facilities include Air Transat, Allegiant Air, Breeze Airways, Condor, Cayman Airways, Frontier, Sun Country Airlines, and VivaAerobús. Passengers for these airlines board a shuttle to the West Gates of the Tom Bradley International Terminal after clearing security.
Terminal 1 features 14 gates: Gates 9, 11A, 11B, 12A, 12B, 13–16, 17A, 17B, 18A, 18B, and a bus gate. The terminal underwent major renovations in 2018 and an expansion in 2021, which added a post-security bridge to Terminal 2 and a bus gate for connections to the Tom Bradley International Terminal.
Amenities in Terminal 1 include updated security screening areas, baggage handling improvements, and various dining and shopping options. The terminal is accessible via LAX Shuttle route A buses, which connect all terminals. By December 2025, the LAX Automated People Mover will offer additional landside connections.
Terminal 1 is noteworthy for its efficient layout and recent updates, making it a convenient choice for domestic travelers at LAX.
