Getting Around FCO Airport
The airport features two main terminals: Terminal 1 and Terminal 3. Terminal 1, which houses Gates A1–A83, primarily serves ITA Airways and domestic flights. Terminal 3, the largest terminal, includes Gates E1–E52 and handles a significant portion of international traffic. Terminal 3 also incorporates the former Terminal 5 and a satellite building for non-Schengen departures. The terminals are well-connected, making it easy for travelers to navigate between domestic and international flights.
To move between different sections of Terminal 3, passengers can use the automated people mover (APM) known as SkyBridge. This shuttle train operates between the third floor of Terminal 3 and the second floor of gate area E31–44. It's important to note that the westbound service from Terminal 3 to Gates E31–44 is for departing passengers only, while the eastbound service is for arriving passengers. Arriving passengers must pass through a transfer security checkpoint to re-enter the departure area, and thus cannot take the train back to Terminal 3.
For those navigating the terminals, clear signage and information desks are available throughout the airport. Additionally, the terminals are equipped with amenities such as shops, restaurants, and lounges to ensure a comfortable experience while waiting for flights. Whether you are catching a domestic flight from Terminal 1 or an international flight from Terminal 3, the airport’s layout and facilities are designed to streamline your journey.
